The position
We are seeking a talented data specialist to be responsible for data extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of sources.
To be successful as a data specialist, you should have an eye for detail, expert knowledge of data extraction methods, and a meticulous approach to information verification. You’ll work methodically to ensure the accurate transfer of information to a secure digital medium.
A day in the life of
As a Data Specialist, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining crawlers. You’ll research which sources are most valuable to our customers and improve their accuracy.
Each one picks the problem they want to resolve, so there's no micromanagement. You're going to be autonomous and responsible, but we help each other and we encourage each other. We like to brainstorm and share knowledge, so you'll have the chance to present your ideas and innovate, but you'll get the needed help, it's all about teamwork.

Responsibilities
Configure data extraction crawlers (JSON), test, validate and deliver.
Perform data reconciliations to identify and correct data anomalies (monitor data flow with DataDog and investigate stored data with API search methods).
Regular data maintenance check-ups to ensure data integrity and quality.
Escalate data issues needing process re-engineering.
Requirements
Must-haves:
Basic understanding of how the web works to be able to extract the data (i.e., HTML, CSS, JSON syntax, xPath, .http protocol, developer tools) and knowing how Single-Page Application works.
Basic understanding of programming languages (JAVA or Python) used in systems for collecting, storing, and processing data.
Basic understanding of Linux commands to be able to work with log files or inspect if source is accessible and data is retrieved, some examples: cat, curl, wget, etc.
Ability to work with integrated development environments (preferably IntelliJ Idea) - learn to use debugging tools.
It would be great if you could tick off these boxes as well:
BSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar discipline.
Interested in gaining more knowledge: Ruby on Rails, JAVA, Javascript, or Python.
Ability to work with SQL-based databases.
Ability to work with text search engines systems (e.g., Lucene or Solr).
Understanding of version control systems (e.g., GIT).
